Insights from an Empath

Being around a lot of people can get intense really fast for an Empath.  The more people I am around, the quicker my social battery gets depleted.

It’s also not just about the amount of people I am around.  Don’t forget about the length of time spent in other people’s energy too.  This is another important element to self care for an Empath.

It took me years to discover my own personal limits and learn to respect them.

Since Empaths help transmute energy (that’s how we were designed to help you), there is a window of time spent with others that if I cross that threshold…I KNOW it!  I really start to feel the energy drain and need to hide away to cleanse and re-charge myself.

This is also when I appreciate my pack of healing pups the most.  We Empaths love and need our animal friends.  They help me when it’s time to re-charge my own energetic battery.

Granted…I use to feel like something was wrong with me because it was so challenging to go into social situations.  It was an internal fight for many years and a vicious cycle.  83e0a6e1eea6023267bed139520be8f2I would force myself to do the social things society programmed me to believe was “normal” and “healthy”.

Ultimately I ended up draining my energy reserves and needing to hide out with my pups.

My 15 year Social Work career was excruciating for me and often left me feeling depleted and feeling the symptoms of those I was trying to help. I did not understand why until just a few years ago.

So, ultimately, a large chunk of my life I fought AGAINST who I was and who I came to this Earth to be. I was trying to fit into world that I was never suppose to “fit into” in the first place.

Accepting who I am & why I am here came over years of focusing on my own inner healing and spiritual growth. Doing that work was the best decision I could have every made. It opened my eyes to things that many living the worldly way never see. It allowed me to love and appreciate myself and what I bring to my relationships and contribute to the collective energy of the world.

I love that we are all individuals with different gifts, skills, abilities, and missions for this life.  We are all gifted in our own way and came here to contribute something special to the here and now.

That being said:

Do not ever compare yourself, or your journey to someone else.

You are you & were created perfectly.

Do not feel like you need to keep up any pace with your friend, co-worker, spouse, or neighbor.  Remember…they all have their own calling for being on the planet right now too, which may be quite different than yours.

Just keep living your truth, following your intuition, and be the best you that you can be.

Protect your energy. You do not have to stay in any situation that drains you.

Live life with a joyful & grateful heart.

Love and nurture the Earth, the animals, each other.

Spread kindness!

Everything else will fall into place.

New Year, New You!

Tomorrow is the last day to give your body a 2019 total internal make over at a 10% discount & I want to help you create a healthy home and body this year. 50058566_10217850766531681_6607428373075460096_nIn fact, I am going to sweeten the pot today with $10 cash back to anyone who decides they are ready to let me be their oily guide and get their starter kit on this sale.

There is so much you can do to support your entire family with just these 11 key oils and I can’t wait to send you a welcome gift to make that even easier.

Do you see frequent FB posts about people getting sick, people in pain, people with cancer, people with mystery illnesses that the doctors can’t figure out?

On any given day, I see multiples of these posts and every time I wish my friends would let me help them make a change that will REALLY help their lives & their entire family.

It’s no secret that my family saves a lot of money (and time) since we started our oily healing journey with YL. I love having something at my disposal to help anyone in my home that has a need arise (fur babies included.)

I get a lot of questions about essential oils and I love it! It gives me a chance to educate people on quality differences, so I can help them gain all the therapeutic benefits these little gifts from nature bring to our bodies, emotions, and soul.

With so many oils on the market these days, pure oils are VERY hard to find, and companies can pretty much “say” whatever they want, without having to back up their claims.

It’s actually really scary and that is why you see all the horror stories about using oils. It’s not the essential oils themselves, it’s the other junk that goes into that bottle.

After all…there is absolutely NO way that every oil bottle toting the “100% pure” label are actually pure. Pure essential oils take A LOT of plant matter to produce.

Did you know that an essential oil bottle only has to have 5% pure essential oil in that bottle in order for the company to label it “100% pure”? Pretty scary (and deceiving) right?

What is the other 95% that you are inhaling, putting on your skin…or even worse….allowing your pets, or children to absorb into their bodies?

That’s why I only trust the company that grows their own plants and has a Seed To Seal purity promise that you can’t find anywhere else.

Here’s a little breakdown of the 11 oils you will get in your starter kit. Truly just the tip of the iceberg, because when you start working with these oils you are going to discover they have multiple uses and benefits too!

🍵 Thieves Vitality – the healthy-keeper. It helps keep the air clean, boosts immunity, and helps our digestive systems work their best. A winter daily must have in our home.
🍊Citrus Fresh – gets rid of bad odors; pet odors, trashcans, stinky shoes, your teenagers’ room…. You get the picture.
👶 Copaiba (CO-PIE-EE-BUH) Vitality – uplifting, soothing, promotes youthful appearance from the inside out, amazing for teething babes, and just an all-around rockstar oil.
😇 Frankincense – incredible for the skin and immune system, eases occasional and minor tension/anxiety, promotes feelings of calmness and balance. This is also the oil I have been using daily to support myself since I fell and hit my head a week ago.
👃 Raven – one of my favorites to diffuse and to use as a chest rub, especially this time of year! This one is a lifesaver for me every time the wildfire smoke rolls in, or air quality declines.
🚙 DiGize (DIE-JIZE) Vitality – all things digestive & tummy. We use a heck of a lot of this stuff. Our dogs & chickens have also had great benefit from this one.
🍋 Lemon Vitality – naturally highlights hair, maintains energy levels, helps oily skin, calluses, dimply skin, keeping your body toxin-free, is a delicious natural appetite suppressant in water… I could go on!
❤️Stress Away – exactly what it says. We roll it onto our wrists and the back of our necks anytime we want it. It’s heavenly in the diffuser, too!
🌱Peppermint Vitality – so many health benefits (delicious in water!), but let’s be real: it is the bomb in peppermint brownies!
🏃‍♀️Panaway – takes all your pan away. 😉 This one has also been a HUGE help after my fall on the stairs last week.
💤 Lavender – “the swiss army knife of essential oils.” We use it for enjoying the outdoors in the Spring (especially combined with lemon & peppermint). It is great for relaxation, in sleepy cream, creating a calm environment for kids, calming baths, and moisturizing skin. I use lavender A LOT in blends and carry it in my purse for unexpected mishaps in the kitchen or run in with bees.

PSSSSST! I also suggest googling “Benefits of Frankincense essential oil” for a treasure trove of AMAZING science.

So…what are you waiting for? It’s a new year and your family is soooo worth it! Taking proper care of ourselves now will help us create healthier and happier tomorrows.

Challenging myself with “28 To Elevate”

It’s a fresh new year and I always like to take a little time to reflect on the previous year.  It allows me to insure I am improving myself physically, mentally, and spiritually so I can move forward into 2019 being the best Jen I can be.  49730766_297269494308590_1439619079945060352_n

This year I am participating in “28 To Elevate”, so I can start January off on the right foot.

My workbook is ready!  It starts on the 7th and I am looking for accountability partners join me.

It is no secret our society is getting sicker.  On any given day, I open my FB and see post after post about colds, flu, strep throat, cancer, digestive issues, insomnia, and mystery diseases.  People are suffering way more than they need to.  They just don’t realize how much control they actually have over improving their lives.

Every year there are new “bugs” going around wreaking havoc in people’s bodies, but WE do have some control over this.  WE choose what we allow into our homes. WE are the gatekeepers.

Many of the things that are making people sicker than ever before are a direct result to what we are allowing on and in our bodies.    Yes…our own personal choices on what we eat, put on our skin, and use to clean our homes.

After all, if we do not take care of ourselves and detoxify our environment in the here and now, we will spend a lot more time and money paying for medical bills and prescriptions in the future.  Some of you may already be feeling those affects, but you can start making healthier decisions for you and your family today.  It is never too late, as long as we are alive and breathing.

So, tell me….  Are you living the healthiest life you can live?

If we are honest with ourselves, the answer is probably “no”.  So….what are you waiting for??  Let’s kick things up a notch together!  This program is for anyone, with or without oils, so you do not have to be a part of the oily lifestyle to benefit from what you will learn.  However, there will be oily daily tips included, so it is also a great way to dive deeper into your oily collection if you are an oiler.

You can read more about it and sign up here:  28 To Elevate.   Shoot me a message after you’ve joined, so we can do this together!

If you are on the fence, here are the questions to ask yourself.    Do you want to get more out of life for the long term?  Are you willing to join me in investing 5-10 minutes a day for 28 days to elevate your mind and body?  Let’s do this!!

Oily Blessings,

Jen

Day 25:  Christmas Spirit Essential Oil

Merry Christmas!  Drawer #25 revealed the perfect blend to complete our Advent Calendar adventure this year.  We love Christmas Spirit in our home…year round! 32207269_10156673843442502_8692839757849296896_nIt is a tantalizing blend of orange, spruce and cinnamon and creates a sense of peace and security when diffused.

Christmas Spirit inspires those warm, cozy, winter feelings I use to look for when I burned scented candles.  It is perfect for diffusing in order to replace those toxic candles, room sprays, wax burners, and plug ins that might still be lurking in your home.

It was eye opening when I researched the products in my home (also used in millions of homes daily) and ultimately discovered how much damage they were causing to my body and my family’s health.  Let me tell you…my home has gone through a major overall over the past 3 years!

This knowledge has empowered me to speak out and help provide others the information my family so desperately needed, so they can also make educated decisions for theirs.

To learn more about creating a healthy home environment, check out this video:  http://bit.ly/ToxinFreeLiving101

Where are my DIY lovers?  Do you enjoy creating your own personal care products?  I have been using Christmas Spirit in my DIY bar soaps and body butter this fall.  It is divine!

If you enjoy making things like I do, here are a couple of other things you can try:

  • Combine 15–20 drops oil with 2 cups baking soda to create a non-toxic DIY carpet cleaner. Sprinkle the combination on your carpet, let it sit for a couple hours, and vacuum to bring the scent of the season into your home.
  • Create a DIY non-toxic air freshener by combining 30 drops oil with 2 cups water in a glass spray bottle and shake well. Spritz around your home, wherever you need a little happy infusion.

This oily gem of a blend also helps the respiratory system (super win for this asthmatic!)  It can also help release emotional blocks while inspiring happiness, energy and joy.

You can see why this blend is a favorite for many around the holiday season.  Let’s keep that feeling a flowing.  There is no reason why we cannot continue to carry it into the new year too!  You can diffuse Christmas Spirit for year-round oily goodness!

That is a wrap for our oily Advent Calendar.  Thank you for joining me for “The 25 Oily Days of Christmas”.

Wishing you and amazing holiday season filled with love, laughter, and joy.  May 2019 bless you and your family.

Oily Blessings,

Jen

Day 24:  Frankincense Essential Oil

It was no surprise Frankincense was in Drawer #24 today.  Frankincense essential oil is one of my favorites that I use daily.  4cbfb9f1331cb9493f575f49110c87a3--card-reading-infj-personalityFrankincense is added to any immune boosting, mood boosting, relaxing, skin care, and respiratory support blends I create.  Having Frankie in my life helps me stay balanced in a variety of ways.

You can check out just a few of the amazing ways I use this oil in this blog:  http://bit.ly/MyFrankincense.

I also enjoy using Frankincense in my resin burner.  It is a wonderful way to clear away lower level energy from my personal space, creating a relaxing and cleansing environment. 13876212_10154425619997502_8380079741015838847_nI find that I only need to turn the burner on for a short time before the woodsy scent of Frankincense wafts throughout the room.

Join me tomorrow for our final unveiling of Drawer #25!

Day 23:  Tranquil Roll-On

Yay!! Today brought Tranquil into our lives!  I have several of the Young Living roll-ons, but this was missing from my collection.  It’s been on my wish list though.

I did not hesitate to pop the lid off this one and give it a whirl.  At first sniff, Tranquil has a relaxing, comforting smell that inspires relaxation.  4a340489ed64503de9288da6161c19c5It is the perfect blend of Lavender, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile and Coconut oil all ready to roll and go.

I am looking forward to keeping Tranquil close at hand to help me relax before bed at night.  Nothing feels quite as good as a solid night’s sleep.  Sweet dreams!

Day 22:  Oily Flash Drive

We opened the drawer to Day 22 and it took us a minute to figure out what it was.  fdAt first glance, it appeared to be a bottle of Kidscents Geneyus oil.

When I pulled it out of the drawer, it was actually a cute flash drive in the shape of an oil bottle. I needed a new flash drive, so this one will be perfect to designate as the one I use for my YL business.  I’ll never forget what’s on it! 😉

What a fun surprise.  I love original gits!

We are winding down the final days of the Advent Calendar.  Join me tomorrow to see what’s in Drawer 23!

Day 21:  Cypress Essential Oil

The first day of winter brings us the oily gift of Cypress.  46183025_373794223365158_7037213166132002816_nIt seems like the perfect time to share a diffuser blend that will help infuse a little happy into your day.

I don’t know about you, but I just love the coniferous oils and cypress is a regular in our home.  In fact, it was a major player in helping Sara with her needs today.

Cypress and wintergreen used together is one of the powerhouse combos her body responds well to.    Sara woke up this morning with a tight, stiff neck and this combo helped bring her relief. Later in the day, she was having rib spasms, so I busted them out again.  It always amazes me how quickly essential oils can bring comfort and relief, when applied topically.

Cypress wood is noted for its durability.  Most famously, for the original doors of St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.  Legends say they lasted over 1,000 years!  Cypress has also been used since ancient times for purification and incense.

Known as the “Oil of Motion & Flow”, it is a grounding and calming oil.  It has been used to help heal emotional trauma and soothe anger.  If you have difficulty letting go of the past, consider working with Cypress to help you learn to let go of worries and release control.  After all, to truly enjoy life, we must learn to trust lifes perfect flow.

As with all essential oils, Cypress brings a variety of advantages to the table.  CedarI find this one to be beneficial for my respiratory system and very soothing when I need it the most.  It is also known to support the Cardiovascular System, glands/hormones, circulation, and promotes liver health.

One more cypress fun tip before I go, with the current holidays and Valentine’s Day right around the corner, romance might be on your mind.  Try adding a little sizzle between the sheets by keeping a vial of diluted cypress and orange oil handy. 😉

I hoped you enjoyed learning a little bit about Cypress today.  Meet me back here tomorrow to see what’s in drawer number 22!

Day 20:  Lavender Lip Balm

Soft and supple lips are the name of the game for Day 20.  Lavender is our featured essential oil in today’s oily gift.  It is well known for its skin soothing properties, so feel free to use this one often to sooth chapped winter lips.  46183025_373794223365158_7037213166132002816_nI keep a lip balm by the bed and in my purse, at a minimum.  I’ve also been using it in conjunction with the Poppy Seed Lip Scrub we opened earlier this month.  My lips feel…. amazing!

Lavender Lip Balm is of course…all-natural goodness for your lips, with no icky additives. As with all Young Living oils and products, you can trust the purity and quality to be top notch.

I also like the variety of skin soothing oils listed in the ingredients.  A luxurious and soothing combo of Coconut Oil, Bees Wax, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Wolfberry Seed Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Lavender Oil, and Vitamin E. Doesn’t that sound divine?

Christmas is right around the corner and that mistletoe is calling. December EducationPucker up and get ready for some smooches this year with this nourishing blend!

I can’t believe that’s Day 20!  There are only a few days left, so meet me back here for Day 21.

Day 19:  Savvy Minerals Eye Liner

I feel pretty!  What a fun surprise to see another Savvy item in my oily gift box today!  I’ll be honest, I don’t wear makeup very often, so it isn’t something I usually spend my money on. I’d rather buy lots and lots of oils!! 😉

I do have my core set of Savvy make up for those occasions I do decide to doll myself up a little bit.  lead up to class - enhanceI did not have the eyeliner yet, so let’s learn a little more about this one together shall we?

Let’s start with why I use Savvy Minerals over all the other make up brands on the market today.  Did you know that the average woman puts over 500 chemicals per day on her body? It is believed that our skin absorbs 60-70% of any topical products we use. Yikes!  That’s a lot of extra junk our already overtaxed bodies must try to filter out.

When my skin started rejecting other make up brands, I started looking deeper at what was in the stuff I had been using and it wasn’t pretty.  I finally understood why my skin felt like it couldn’t breathe.

Let’s learn  a little bit about six common toxic substances that are found in most commercial cosmetics (you won’t find any of it in the Savvy Minerals line).

  • PARABENS: Parabens can mimic estrogen and act as potential hormone (endocrine) system disruptors in the body’s cells. Parabens have been found present in breast tumors and are possibly linked to breast cancer.
  • TALC: Some talc may contain the known carcinogen asbestos. It’s a filler and is known to clog pores.
  • BISMUTH: Bismuth Oxychloride is a naturally occurring heavy element found in nickel, tin and silver that’s primarily used to give cosmetics their shimmer and is another cheap filler.
Many women will experience itchiness when wearing products containing bismuth, most noticeably when they sweat. This can often lead to nasty rashes and severe acne.
  • LEAD: I seriously can’t believe we have to worry about this in our make up!  Lead is a known carcinogen (meaning it causes cancer). It can be in your cosmetics and personal care products it doesn’t even have to be listed on the label.   That is because it’s not an ingredient, but rather a contaminant. On the FDA’s website it states that 99% OF ALL COSMETICS CONTAIN LEAD!
  • Now on to MERCURY: Mercury is poison and is a known toxin. Repeated or serious exposure to mercury can severely damage the nervous system including psychotic reactions, hallucinations, suicidal tendencies and a SLEW of other things. Mercury is terrible for everyone, but it is disturbingly dangerous for pregnant or nursing women. Breast milk can become contaminated and in utero exposure to mercury has been attributed to an increase in neural tube defects.
  • MINERAL OIL: Mineral Oil (also called “liquid petroleum”) Mineral oil is a common ingredient in baby lotions, cold creams, ointments and cosmetics.

I don’t know about you, but learning these key points made me look at what I put on my skin in a whole new light.  This is why I switched to Savvy.  I now put on make up and forget about it!  That’s how amazing it feels on my skin. I swear my skin actually gets healthier when I use Savvy Minerals. That is something I have never experienced from make up before.

Here’s just a few of the things I love about Savvy: #5 toxins in makeup

  • Savvy Minerals are free from: talc, lead, bismuth, mineral oil, parabens, lead, gluten and mercury!
  • Savvy Minerals are made in the USA
  • Savvy Minerals are cruelty-free and mostly vegan (the lipsticks and lip glosses have beeswax so they are not considered vegan).
  • Savvy Minerals by Young Living uses Arrowroot Powder and Kaolin Clay. Both are calming to the skin, help to absorb excess oil and moisture on the skin and make the skin feel silky smooth. This is important because most mineral makeup uses bismuth, which is a metal mineral that – when worked into the pores – aggravates the pores and causes irritation and breakouts.

Now onto my new eyeliner.  The shade is Jet Setter and the eyeliner is designed to help bring out the natural beauty of your eyes.  savvyI can’t wait to make my eyes pop with my new eyeliner.  🙂

It’s made with mineral-based ingredients and is ideal for sensitive skin. Its buildable color blends well to create gorgeous day or night looks, so you can choose to be subtle or sassy. It’s finely ground mineral base creates a smooth, luxurious, and long-lasting application. I also like to use the Savvy Misting Spray on my makeup brushes before using any of my mineral make up.

And so, ends Day 19.  I can’t believe my oily gifts will end in 6 days, but I intend to enjoy every one of them!  Join Sara & I tomorrow in our Our Wellness Group for the video reveal of Day 20.

Oily Blessings,

Jen

Day 18:  Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree oil was today’s oily gift in the drawer and I am always happy to have a spare bottle.  With the myriad of beneficial uses this oil provides, it is one I always keep stocked in my house.

Tea tree is a wonderful oil to help support clear skin. tea tree_0I keep it in my collection for any skin issues that might pop up. It pairs nicely with a few drops of lavender and your favorite carrier oil.

Got oily skin?  You can help stop the shine using this DIY recipe:

*  5 tablespoons organic aloe vera gel
*  20 drops Lavender essential oil
*  10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
*  1–2 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil

Combine all the ingredients, apply it to your face, and add moisturizer (if you want).  You can store leftovers in an airtight glass container for 15-20 days.

You can also use it as a makeup remover for normal to dry skin by adding 10 drops to 1/4 cup carrier oil, like fractionated coconut oil.

Healthy feet are happy feet, so why not try adding a few drops to your next foot bath to fight odors and help keep your toenails healthy.  If you are not big on foot baths, you can combine about half a teaspoon of coconut oil and 2–3 drops of tea tree oil and just massage the mixture into your feet.  Better yet…have someone else do it for you! 😉

While skin care might be this oils most notable claim to fame, let us not forget all the other amazing benefits it brings.  As with all oils, you will discover multiple uses and benefits from each one.  I love that about essential oils. It really makes it easy to “always have an oil for that,” when I need one.

Tea Tree supports the Respiratory System, Immune System, oral hygiene, hair, muscles and bones.  That’s a lot of therapeutic benefits in one little bottle!  I also like to add a drop to diffuser blends to reap tea tree’s cleansing and purifying properties.

Now that you can see how useful this oil is, let’s chat about a few other ways you can easily incorporate this oily gem into your everyday life.

Oral hygiene is important for our overall health and I don’t know about you, but I’d rather keep my dental visits to a minimum.  Help your teeth and gums stay healthy by adding a drop of tea tree to your oil pulling routine, or mouthwash.  Add a drop of tea tree to your toothbrush for the double clean mouth bonus.

This is also the time of the year we all need a little extra body support and it is important to keep our sinuses healthy.  If you use nasal saline rinses, you can add a drop of tea tree to your next one to support healthy sinus function.

Throat support often goes hand in hand with keeping our sinuses happy.  Try adding a few drops of tea tree to warm water and gargle to support a healthy mouth and throat.

Where’s my makeup loving beauties? This tips for you!  Skip the potentially toxin filled make up brush cleaners and make your own with this easy DIY recipe  You can whip it up in minutes to help keep your brushes in tip top shape. Just combine the following ingredients and store them in a glass bottle:

  • 1 cup witch hazel
  • 4 teaspoons liquid castile soap
  • 5 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops Tea Tree essential oil

Do you still buy carpet fresheners? I’m all about helping people detox their homes, so do yourself a favor and kick those to the curb.  You can create your own version easily, without the questionable ingredients.

If you have children, or pets in the home…this is extra important.  My pups run across my floors all day and then lick their feet…makes you think, doesn’t it?

You can create your own fresh carpet mix by using baking soda with a few drops of tea tree (or carpet freshening oil of choice) mixed in.  Sprinkle it on your carpets, let it sit for awhile and then just vacuum it up.  I also like to use the Purification essential oil blend, or lemon & lavender as alternate options.

I buy the large bags of baking soda at Costco to use in my laundry, cleaning, and as a carpet fresh.  It is such an inexpensive way to kick out some common household toxins and you can mix and match the oils you want to use.  You will just want to stick to cleansing and purifying oils.

Since I brought up laundry, here’s my last tip of the day.  Do you find your laundry needs a little extra freshening?  If you have pets, or teenagers…you know what I’m talking about! 😉  You can give your laundry detergent a boost by simply adding 5-10 drops of tea tree to it.

That’s all for Day 18.  Meet me back here for Day 19.

Oily Blessings,

Jen

Day 17:  ART Light Moisturizing Cream

Tis’ the season for dry skin and I don’t know about you, but mine sure can use a little TLC.  Our wacky Washington weather has been bringing the cold, wind, rain….and repeat.

Today’s oily gift makes me happy because I know it’s made with healthy, quality ingredients that are good for my skin. moistWhen it comes to skin care, it is so important to check the ingredients on your products, because unfortunately… most beauty products on the market today are loaded with toxins that you do not want absorbed into your body.

I’m talking things that can cause a whole lot of chaos in our body systems and send our body into toxin overload.  Just google “toxin overload symptoms” and see what I am talking about.  I would not be surprised if you discover some of the symptoms on that list are showing up in your life as well.

I know for me, I was deceived by the labels for years…on pretty much every product I used in my home and on my body.  I believed I was using things that were safe, only to discover…. I was wrong. 😦

In the past, I believed when I bought something labeled “all natural” or even “organic”, it was toxin free. Companies can be so deceiving, so having healthy options backed by Young Living’s Seed to Seal Guarantee is something I know I can feel good about.

After all, beauty products should enhance our natural beauty…not create sickness in our bodies. ❤

With our environment being so unpredictable, I truly want everyone living the longest and healthiest lives they can.  It’s empowering to take charge of the areas of your own personal health that you do have control over. What we allow into and on our bodies is one of those things.

OK, so now it’s time to pamper my face.  Bring on the new moisturizing cream!  Normally I would wash my face before putting on my moisturizer, but I did things the quick way tonight.  Since I have the Seedlings Baby Wipes handy (I use them as make up remover cloths), I decided to use one of them for a quick face wash before moisturizing.

I opened the little round container of moisturizing cream and honestly…I didn’t think that little amount would get me very far.  I should know by now that Young Living products stretch so much further than I expect.  I was able to moisturize my entire face and neck with less than a dime size amount of cream.  It barely made a dent in the container!

It goes on smooth and soaks into your skin quickly, which was nice.  I am not a fan of those moisturizers that feel like they sit on your skin forever.  A few minutes after applying, my skin felt velvety smooth. I am definitely a fan of this one and look forward to using it regularly.

That’s all for Day 17.  Join me tomorrow for Day 18.

Oily Blessings,

Jen

Day 16:  Thieves Mints

One thing I have really enjoyed about this advent calendar is the variety, including some things we can’t even buy through Young Living.  Today’s oily gift of Thieves Mints will give me breath freshening portable goodness to carry in my purse again. mint

I used to always have a container of mints in my purse, or car.  When I became more health conscious and started reading ingredient labels and researching exactly what those ingredients were, that is when I quit buying my old favorites.  Things like breath mints and chewing gum were at the top of my purse ditch list!  Adding toxins and artificial flavoring into my system went completely against what I was trying to achieve for my long-term health, so I just nixed them all together.

Luckily, as a side benefit…. since I have kicked toxins out of my home and personal care products, things like bad breath and body odor also went away.  That was an interesting correlation, but really…it makes sense. What goes in must come out.  Cleaner living gives us cleaner body systems.  If we are constantly bombarding our body with unnatural chemicals that were never meant to be in it, they will seep out of our pores.

Ultimately, I kind of miss having mints as a quick option while out and about. I like flavor.  When Sara bought a pack of the Thieves mints to try a few months ago, we loved them.  I couldn’t take her tin though, so I was quick to grab todays goody and throw it in my purse.  😉

Using these mints is a choice I feel good about.  They are made from naturally derived ingredients and are free of icky stuff like artificial sweeteners, dyes, and preservatives.  They also contain two of my favorite oils, Peppermint and Thieves.  Bring on the extra immune boosting support! Truly a yummy combo of sugar-free sweetness.

I’m glad I made the switch from breath fresheners that were harming my body to Thieves, which give my body extra healthy goodness along with great flavor.

Since I also switched all my dental products to Thieves oral care products, I also know how beneficial Thieves is for my mouth, since my teeth are cleaner than they have ever been.

So, pop a Thieves Mint with confidence that you are supporting your body, not giving it extra junk, it must filter out.  See you tomorrow for Day 17!!

Day 15:  Wintergreen

Today’s oily gift reminds me of childhood and the mints grandparents always seemed to have around.  It’s interesting how childhood smells stay with you.  wintergreenAhhh…the power of aromatherapy. 😉

One thing I love about any essential oil I choose to use is that they all have multiple purposes and benefits for my body.  Historically, wintergreen leaves were chewed to increase respiratory capacity and to prevent tooth decay. It was also used during the Revolutionary War as a black tea substitute.

Wintergreen essential oil has quickly become an important part of my oily arsenal.  I only started using it within the last year, but it quickly became one I make sure I always have in stock.  Did you know this oil helps support muscles and bones?  I like to combine it with Cypress and apply it topically when my neck & head need a little extra love.

Remember Day 11 when we chatted about Cedarwood oil?  That is when I first mentioned Wintergreen as being a healthy addition to your shampoo.  Luscious locks…yes, please!   Between the hair recipe I shared featuring Cedarwood and adding Wintergreen to the mix…happy hair is here to stay. 😉

Before I say goodnight, I want to leave you with a holiday diffuser blend recipe that will have you dreaming about Christmas cookies!  Christmas Cookie Diffuser BlendI have this one going in the diffuser right now and it smells divine!

See you back here tomorrow for Day 16!

Oily Blessings,

Jen
