1/5/2016: It’s a new year and everyone is making fresh new goals…me included!! After indulging a bit over the holiday season, I am ready to resume my healthier eating. I always love to try new products, so I can pass along my personal reviews.
Honestly, I like to really experience the products myself that I am selling, as much as possible. It’s the best way to know what to recommend to my awesome customers. I am going to use Slique Tea for the first time. I intend to drink one cup a tea a day and blog about my experience. Let’s see where this journey goes!!!
Today I am drinking Young Living Slique Tea for the first time. I really did not have much knowledge about this product before ordering it. I knew it was part of their weight management products and since I wanted to start the new year off right anyway, I decided to get a box and try it. I am actually drinking my first cup as I write this. Slique is a very mild, pleasant flavored tea. At first drink, I noticed a slight earthy flavor at the end, which I am thinking might be the Frankincense. The vanilla flavor blends nicely with a smooth creamy finish. I just noticed I’ve already devoured half of my cup, so I guess I must like it! So far, it’s getting a big thumbs up from me!
Are you one of those people who read the cereal box while eating? I sure am, so you can bet that I am reading the back of my tea box too. I want to share with you what is written on the box:
Slique for weight management: The Slique line of products is formulated with unique, natural ingredients to help you obtain your individual weight goals when combined with diet and physical activity.
Our Slique Tea blend is rich in flavonoids, a catechin compound generally associated with maintaining healthy body functions. It also contains polyphenols that may be useful for weight management when combined with a sensible diet. These, along with other natural tea antioxidants, make Slique Tea an excellent lifestyle choice.
This exotic blend is a healthful, nutritious alternative to sugar-laden fruit drinks made from concentrates, sodas, and coffees and should be a staple in your daily regimen.
A truly unique tea blend: Slique Tea is a delicious, rare blend of natural ingredients chosen for their health-boosting benefits. The tea starts with wild-harvested Ecuadorian ocotea leaf (Ocotea quixos), a member of the cinnamon family traditionally used by natives for health and wellness. We then add an exquisite cacao powder, plus pure, proprietary vanilla essential oil.
Key to this unique blend are two premium varieties of jade oolong tea leaves, highly sought-after for their rich aroma and antioxidant content. These leaves are handpicked from the high mountains of taiwan, known for producing some of the world’s finest teas. All of these ingredients are enhanced with therapeutic-grade Arabian frankincense powder (Boswellia sacra), an exclusive ingredient from Young Living’s distillery in Salalah, Oman.
Ingredients: Jade oolong tea, inulin, ocotea leaf, cacao powder, vanilla essential oil, frankincense powder, and natural stevia extract.

I finished my first cup and really enjoy the flavor. I could easily drink this tea daily. Prior to drinking it, I was feeling hungry and I am happy to report that the hungry feeling has gone away. Not bad for the first day!
I am just sitting down to drink my daily cup of Slique Tea. After drinking the tea yesterday, I think I actually had a slight energy boost. It might be hard to tell after just one serving, but I will see if that pattern continues. Crossing my fingers that a little zing in my step will end up being an added benefit to this blend.
While I am going through this Slique Tea experiment, I want to take a little deeper look at the ingredients in the tea. Over the past few years, I have become quite the label reader and really like to know what is going into my body. Since I am now all about essential oils, I decided to start with the essential oils listed in the tea first. Today, my focus is on vanilla. Vanilla was one of the first flavors I tasted in this tea. It added that smooth creamy yumminess.
I decided to do a little research about the health benefits of vanilla, since I had always thought of it as something that just made my baked goods taste amazing. In reading the following article written by Dr. Mercola, it turns out vanilla may actually be beneficial for assisting in achieving and maintaining a healthier physical and emotional body.
Historically, vanilla has been known to assist with stomach problems and was even used as an antidote for poisoning in the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as an aphrodisiac. Vanila has also been documented to contain antispasmodic, calming, antidepressant, and antioxidant benefits.*
Vanilla has also been known to promote healthy skin, sooth burns and promote hair growth. Think how amazing vanilla oil would be added to a soothing massage oil also. Vanilla oil is also an excellent oil to use in Aromatherapy. *
That’s just the tip of the iceberg I am sure, but it sounds like a beneficial oil to add to my wellness regimen!
My cup is now empty, which means it’s the end of today’s entry. I did notice while boiling my water that I was looking forward to drinking my tea today. I am really enjoying the flavor, so I am taking that as a positive day two sign.

I just wanted to drop in and do a quick update. I somehow managed to forget to drink my tea on 1/8/16. I drank my daily cup on the 9th and the 10th. I will say that I noticed having more energy afterwards. Today, it is currently after 6:00 PM and I just realized…oops, I did it again! So… it’s too late to drink a potentially energy enhancing beverage for me tonight. This week I feel a little like Dory!
I guess the bad news is, I did in fact not drink the tea twice in the past few days. On the flipside, the good news is… I actually missed not drinking my Slique tea! Looks like I will have to pick back up my Slique journey tomorrow!
It’s been a few days since I jumped on here to give you an update, so I decided today was a good day. True to life, things get hectic and I missed a couple of my daily teas. It was my intention at the beginning of this little experiment to drink one tea a day, but I guess this is more realistic to how life really rolls.
I inadvertently learned something new over the past few days also. I enjoy the tea cold almost as much as I do hot. Of course, I found this out by forgetting to drink it for a couple of hours after brewing it. It might be one I will want to try this summer, over ice.
I want to share with one more tidbit before I sign off for the day. My MIL had recently tried this tea at a friends house and really enjoyed it. So much so that I had to share one of my precious tea bags with her when she came to visit! I guess that’s another yes vote for flavor!
Time for my afternoon tea boost! I am also feeling a little “snacky” and do not really want to eat anything before dinner. I decided to resist the urge to snack, so I am testing the Slique Tea’s ability to help curb that craving. I’ll let you know my thoughts when I reach the bottom of my cup.
Today is one of those days I would love to grab a good book and snuggle in front of the fire with the puppies, while sipping on a steaming cup of tea. The rain is flowing steady and there is a damp chill in the air on this Western Washington Saturday. I may not be able to chill out and spend the afternoon reading, but I was more than happy to brew my tea and sip on it while I work! I will say that the more I drink this tea, the more I enjoy the flavor. It’s definitely good to the last drop! Speaking of which, I just finished my cup and my snack craving has left my mind. Looks like I will wait until dinner to eat again after all!
