Happy Lungs

Good afternoon everyone!!  Today I want to take a moment and share with you what is going on personally for me.  It’s no secret that there are wildfires burning out of control in the West.  Living in Washington State, I am smack dab in the middle of them, which also means I get to breathe the lovely effects of the smoke pollution that is heavy in our skies on a daily basis right now.  As a sufferer of Asthma, this also makes me one of the “sensitive” groups that have felt it worse than the average person.

I felt inspired to talk about what I’ve been doing with essential oils to help my home and family during this past month (plus) that we have been dealing with this.  Diffuse, diffuse, and diffuse those pure essential oils!  I cannot stress this enough to anyone dealing with any kind of air pollution.  I’m running my diffusers around the clock as much as possible to keep our indoor air as clean as it can be.  Over the past month, I have alternated mainly between Purification, Thieves, RC, and I used lavender & lemon in the diffuser in the bunny room yesterday to help them as well.  These are all good choices to help cleanse the air and promote wellness.

However, yesterday it appeared my body was craving something else and I was inspired to try something new.  I had been hoping to make the 2 hour drive to the beach and spend the day for the past couple of weeks….since ocean air is very good for the lungs. However, I am currently unable to safely drive to that degree, so I have to be content with continuing to finding additional ways at home to support my respiratory system.  Enter the inspiration for using the combination of Citrus Fresh and Rosemary essential oils, which for the record smells a bit like fresh beach air to me when diffused together (I use about a 3:1 ratio of Citrus Fresh to Rosemary in my diffuser.)  The scent was a pleasant surprise and I could almost feel that ocean mist rolling in off the shores.

12106864_10153720037152502_5188357030720394564_nCitrus Fresh is a combination of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, and spearmint essential oils.  I’ve always loved this combination for its smell alone (not to mention the vitality oil tastes fantastic in water,) but all those citrus oils are also fantastic for freshening, sanitizing and air cleansing.  They are well known for their immune boosting and mood boosting properties as well.  The soothing addition of spearmint essential oil to this blend has also added a very calming component to my lungs the past couple of days.

I am thankful I trusted my intuition yesterday and tried this oily combination to help give my body what it has been asking for.  I want to encourage everyone to enjoy experimenting with their oils.  Our bodies are all different and different oils will benefit us at different times.  Think outside the box.  Create different combinations that your body is craving and when you find something that you really like, feel free to share that combination with others.  After all, we are all here to support each other along the way.

Wishing you a magnificent Thursday filled with oily goodness!

Light & Love,

Jennifer
